Hey there! I’m Danielle Ross, the founder and recipe creator behind Cook Bold. If you’re passionate about delicious food and believe that a meal is more than just what’s on the plate, you’ve found your community. I started Cook Bold to help fellow food lovers cook with more creativity, confidence, and joy—because I truly believe anyone can make memorable meals at home.

Cooking has always been my way of connecting with people and sharing love. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of competing in regional cooking contests (including two finals in the Midwest Home Cook Challenge), being featured in Recipe Weekly, and collaborating with beloved brands like SpiceWorks and FarmFresh. In 2023, Cook Bold was a finalist for Best New Food Blog by TasteMakers Magazine—a huge honor that’s fueled my passion even more.

What I’ve learned in all my years in the kitchen is this: food has an incredible power to bring us together, spark creativity, and turn the simplest moments into lifelong memories. My mission is to share that magic with you, one bold recipe at a time.


How It All Started

My journey with food began in my grandmother’s sunny kitchen, where the scent of freshly baked bread and laughter always filled the air. I remember being eight years old, standing on a stool to help stir her famous stew, mesmerized by how simple ingredients could become something extraordinary.

As I grew up, food became my love language—whether I was experimenting with new flavors for friends or whipping up late-night pancakes in college. I realized that every recipe I made held a memory, a lesson, or a story worth sharing. That’s why Cook Bold exists: to document these stories and inspire others to create their own.

I love the way food can break down barriers, spark conversation, and build bridges. My hope is that by sharing my recipes and kitchen adventures, I’ll help you feel empowered to try something new, celebrate your successes (and mishaps!), and make every meal an adventure.

I bring over 12 years of hands-on cooking experience to Cook Bold—from cozy family meals to catering small gatherings and, yes, a few competitive cook-offs! My background spans home cooking, recipe development, and countless hours experimenting with new techniques, cuisines, and ingredients. I’ve completed multiple culinary workshops, and I’m a proud graduate of the Farm-to-Table Cooking Course by Chefs United.

Quality is my guiding star. Every recipe I share goes through a careful process: research, multiple rounds of testing, and honest feedback from family and friends. I want you to feel confident that the instructions are clear, the flavors balanced, and the end result worth your time and effort.

Photography is another passion of mine, and I believe beautiful visuals make the cooking process even more inviting. All the food photos on Cook Bold are taken by me, with a focus on capturing real moments and mouthwatering details—no overly staged shots here!

When I’m not cooking, you’ll find me exploring farmer’s markets, reading up on food science, or hiking with my golden retriever, Maple. I love diving into new cookbooks and learning from chefs around the world—there’s always something new to discover.

I’m the heart behind Cook Bold, handling everything from recipe development to food styling and photography. With over a decade in the kitchen and a deep love for sharing stories, I pour my creativity into every post. My background in home cooking, event catering, and food writing helps me craft recipes that are both approachable and inspiring. Outside the kitchen, I’m usually outdoors or planning my next culinary adventure.

2. Marcus Lee – Culinary Consultant
Marcus brings a professional chef’s perspective to Cook Bold. After 8 years in upscale restaurants and a certificate from the Culinary Institute of America, he specializes in technique tips and troubleshooting. He’s passionate about demystifying gourmet cooking for home chefs. Marcus loves hiking and foraging for wild ingredients.

Priya ensures our recipes fit a variety of dietary needs. She’s a registered dietitian with a focus on whole foods and mindful eating.
